Ohio Trip Blog- Day 11- May 14th 2008
Today was a good day. Alex only needed 2 nebulizer treatments
and only had a few Myoclonics throughout the day. I MISS HOME!!! Actually we
are all very anxious to go home. Just to get back into a normal routine will
be, well, relaxing. Today was the last official training day before our big
test tomorrow. The test is basically a trip to the mall with Jeremy
observing us from a distance. To be honest if we just apply everything he
has taught us it will be a piece of cake. We find the handling and basic
training of Treasure extremely fun and interesting. Jeremy and 4-paws
philosophy of training is awesome and Jeremy is a top rate trainer.
We had a graduation party tonight in the hotel lobby. Tammy Taylor, Trey and Jake's Mom, did an unbelievable job decorating the room. She also went out and bought gifts for each doggy. Tammy has a heart of gold and is one of the nicest people you'll ever meet.
This trip has been a great experience. Just being around other families whose child(ren) faces health challenges is both reassuring and comforting. I know it was only 10 days but Beth and I can't help but feel a common bond with the other families. As we all go our separate ways I hope that we can all stay in touch with each other. I personally feel bad that I didn't get to know everybody a little more but most of our time was consumed with training our pooches and creating the environment for them to bond with our real hero's, our children. I especially wish I could have spent more time with Mark Black who is Sarah's Daddy. He is in the Army and had to leave last Friday to serve our country...Thank You Mark!
This blog was originally intended for Alex's support group and the individuals who signed up on his e-mail list. Beth informed me that there are a whole lot more viewing this blog. I apologize to those people because I don't have too much content on the other families that were in our training group.
