Seizure Response Dog
Ohio Trip Blog- Day 12- May 15th 2008
Well it's official. Beth and I are true
blue service dog handlers. The test was all about observing Beth and I and
how we handle certain situations with Treasure. Alex had a day of
consecutive meltdowns but other than that he had a good day. If you haven't
figured it out already I love my family and really enjoy being with Beth and
our children! That being said I cannot wait to get back to the routine and
returning to work. I work for a very small engineering firm, EEC, and my
boss has been all alone for the past 2 weeks. He was very gracious to let me
take 2 consecutive weeks off and I cannot wait to get back to work to help
get all the work done. There are so many people that made this trip possible
and there are not enough words to express our thanks! We (Beth) are packing
up as I am typing this and in an hour or so I will load the van up in
preparation for our journey home. We will be leaving at 5:00am again...or
maybe a little earlier.
I am very glad that I decided to do this blog as it will be nice to look back on our adventure in the future. I will probably continue the blog throughout the weekend as to show how Treasure discovers and gets used to our home.
Today was a bitter sweet day. Saying goodbye to our new found friends was sad but we are very excited about returning with our new family member. 4-paws and it's staff are top notch and I would recommend them to anybody. I will especially miss Jeremy.....I wish I got know him a little better.
I really hope that we who received service dogs can stay in touch in the weeks, months, and years to come. I have a funny story.......One of the first days we were here I took the kids to the pool. Angela wanted to go into the hot tub so I let her go by herself while I stayed in the pool with Billy. There was only one other person in the hot tub besides Angela and she was talking his poor ear off (she takes after her Mom...:)) Well he strikes a conversation up with ma later and told me that Angela filled him in on where we live and why we were in Ohio. His name is Ron Costa and he is in the military and grew up in Seekonk which is right next to Rehoboth. He is the same age as me and in conversation we determined that we were in the same CCD class together in fact his parents still go to the church we belong to. What a small world.
