Seizure Response Dog

Ohio Trip Blog- Day 4- May 7th 2008
Today went much better than yesterday. Beth and I decided that we would switch off every hour or so meaning I would be with Alex for an hour and she would attend the training for an hour and vice versa. It worked out perfectly. We were both able to get the trainin we needed. The most important thing in training Treasure is that both Beth and I use the same commands and the way we make the command to train him. Billy and Angela were well behaved as usual and made the most of the day by making friends with every kid in the place. We are not as concerned about the "vacation" thing that I talked about yesterday regarding Billy and Angela. They are having fun.

The only incident we had today is that Billy got the wind knocked out of him pretty good on the trampoline. I went running to the rescue along with Angela who's daughter, Sarah, also has Dravet and all was fine....just a little winded and embarrassed. Angela is a doctor so if there was an issue Billy would be in good hands. One of Billy's new found friends got right to work to draw Billy a couple of pictures to cheer him up and it worked, Billy thought that was cool.

I'm going to hand the keyboard over to Beth now so she can tell you how last night went with Treasure and Alex. One of the new requirements or I should really say "hopes" we have for Treasure is that he will provide Alex with nighttime comfort so that Beth and I can actually spend a night together.

Hello there, . Last night was not really too different from any other night. Besides of course that Alex had a 75 lb fluffy friend in his bed. Treasure had absolutely no problem at all jumping right up into bed with Alex. Alex was totally unaware of Treasure being there initially because he was out cold from such an exciting and exhausting day. The evening started with me putting Alex down(already asleep) on the sofa bed and then prompted Treasure to lay at his feet. (My Goal is to eventually put them down together and hopefully Alex will go down without having to have me hold him.)They slept peacefully together from around 10:30 pm to 1:30 am. then Alex came stumbling into our room and I brought him back to the sofa with Treasure. I laid there for a while with them until Alex went back down  he awoke shortly after I left him I realized the reason, Treasure was kissing and nuzzling him constantly, so I stayed to "supervise" and correct Treasure when he did this. Hopefully tonight will be a little better.!Fingers crossed.
