Seizure Response Dog
Ohio Trip Blog- Day 6- May 9th 2008
Today was a good day. Alex slept thru
the night again for the most part. Class was good and we learned some new
commands and a new trick. Treasure learned to play dead and he already knows
how to wave hello. I will try to remember to take a picture of Treasure
saying hello.
We practiced seizure response today and Treasure did well. At the end of the day Alex had a single big myoclonic jerk and then walked a few feet Treasure was sniffing and licking the heck out of Alex. Both Beth and I did not think much of it until I told Jeremy that Alex just had a big Myoclonic. Jeremy immediately told us to praise the heck out of Treasure because that over active sniffing was Treasure recognizing the Myoclonic seizure scent. Beth and I were almost speechless and highly impressed. Beth and I both learned what behavior to look for in Treasure when he recognizes a seizure scent from Alex.
Alex also took Treasure out to pee tonight and there are pictures below. Beth and I use the main leash to heal and correct Treasure and Alex uses a smaller leash that hooks to the service harness. It is cute as heck!
We do have training throughout the weekend and tomorrow we have 2 hours of class time and then , as a class, make the big trek to the mall. That should be fun.
