Seizure Response Dog

Ohio Trip Blog- Day 8- May 11th 2008
Today was not a good day. Alex's cold as usual got the best of him and he had clusters of seizures last night so Beth had to give him some Diastat then some Feverall because he developed a fever. This morning he was laboring to breath so we called Dr. Berard's office to get a prescription filled for his nebulizer breathing treatments. We are very lucky that one of the other Mom's that is also in our 4-paws class and that is also staying in our hotel had a nebulizer that we could borrow. Her name is Tammy Taylor and she is the Mom of Jake and Trey. She and her family are very nice people! What a mother's day for Beth. Me and the kids hurried to CVS to get the meds and then to Tammy's room to retrieve the nebulizer. After me and kids dropped that stuff off at our room we hurried down to the hotel lobby to get Beth a good Mother's day breakfast. Obviously Alex was not up for training class today so Beth stayed back with Alex. I have to tell you that it just ripped my heart out that Beth had to spend her Mother's day that way but Beth being the Mother she is would have it no other way. We are all blessed to have Beth in our lives and we are also very lucky!! To be honest I regularly make it a point to tell the kids just how lucky they are to have a Mom like the Mom they have.We do things to show her our gratitude on a regular basis and do not need a Hallmark Holiday as an excuse to show her but it stinks all the same.

With Beth and Alex all snug in the room me, the kids, and Treasure went off to training. Both me and the  kids forgot to get something to eat in the goings on so I treated the kids to doughnuts. It was pouring rain out but we went inside the place anyway. Everybody behaved perfectly and on our way out it started to pour even more. I got the kids in the van and then when it was Treasure's turn a loud clap of thunder rang, it spooked Treasure, and my coffee went flying. After we were all back in the van we headed to 4-paws. Still pouring out .......Billy came out of the van followed by Angela, and followed by Green Treasure.....YES GREEN. The kids had some sort of an art pad that they had left on the floor and when it gets wet guess what color it turns....you guessed it green. It was all over all 4 of his legs and his face. I looked up to the Lord and said "may I have another"! I spent the first part of training washing the green from Treasure.

After we came home to Beth and Alex the kids gave Beth her Mother's day presents and then Me and Billy went to PetSmart to get all the proper things needed to give Treasure a bath. The video below shows a little of Beth giving Treasure a bath in the hotel tub. We just gave Alex another breathing treatment (10:23pm) and he now sounds a little better than before. I do not think he will be up for training tomorrow but we'll see. If Alex would sit still and be content in his stroller we would take him but he cannot do that. I'll let you know how it all went tomorrow night.
